Wow! So my first learning is that setting up a blog and actually tending to a blog are two totally different things! It doesn't write itself! Huh! Well, I'll just have to do something about that.

Here goes: Ever since high school, my whole life has pretty much been consumed with a fascination for experiential learning. My first outdoor adventure experience was in middle school, but in high school, it sunk in - through my own transformative experience and watching/participating in those of others. It is my calling, and I follow it through adventure-based learning, teaching self-defense classes and now by working as a personal trainer - the best way I could think of to work 1:1 with someone and still get the same result.

And what is that result? What keeps me entranced by this way of teaching/learning? It's the development of life skills, of self-efficacy - the belief that you can successfully do something - even if you don't know how to do it yet, you'll figure it out - persistence, willingness to challenge yourself, to continue to grow. There is nothing like the expression on the face of someone who just accomplished something they thought they could not do...
